The Australian Golf Club
Located in the 2000 Olympic City of Sydney, The Australian Golf Club is one of Australia's most exclusive golf clubs. The Australian is a perfectly manicured and aesthetically pleasing golf course, and its current layout, featuring moderated undulations and water hazards was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1977. The club recentley recommissioned Nicklaus to inprove the course once again, including the re-routing of several holes.
The Australian has hosted a number of Austrailian opens, the most recent being the 2014 Open, won by Jordan Spieth. The Australian can be a punishing course wth long, exacting approach shots needed to tight, bunker laden greens. A series of water hazards provide golfers of all standards with challenges right up until the final approach shot into the 18th hole.
The club was founded in 1882 with golf at the Kensington location not commencing until 1904. On that basis the club is arguably the oldest golf club in Australia.
