Founded
in 1894, Portmarnock hosted its first tournament two
years later and since then has seldom looked back.
The
sandy soil of the Portmarnock peninsula makes this
ideal golfing country and today this course is host
to the Irish Open Championship and was also selected
as a venue for the Walker Cup.
Its greatness is measured in its variety of golf holes.
Played in typical Portmarnock "squalls" the course
can prove to be one of the toughest courses in the
world.
