River Fishing in Scotland

The mighty River Tay is home to many record fish, including Britain's largest ever rod-caught salmon landed by Miss Georgina Ballantine in 1922. It weighed a staggering 64lbs and still remains the British record.

The River Tweed has a deserved reputation as one of the world's greatest salmon rivers, free from any experimental stocking. Since the 17th Century anglers have been fishing here for its recognised run of Autumn fish. The Tweed regularly provides some heart-stopping action. Shamus Jennings, October 2013, fishing Boleside beat caught the largest salmon on the fly in Scotland since 1928 at 50lb.

Worldwide, the River Dee is famous for its spring salmon fishing. Anglers travel here from the far corners of the globe to cast a line in search of that elusive 'springer'. Historically many anglers see it as one of the world's top spring rivers especially during the months of February through to May. Royal Deeside is also one of the homes to the Queen and her family who have spent many summer holidays at Balmoral Castle since the reign of Queen Victoria. The River Spey is where Spey casting originated and is still regarded as one of the most exciting and beautiful salmon rivers in the world. If you didn't know it, the Spey provided the setting for the movie blockbuster 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'. You will experience amazing views in which ancient forests creep down to the river bank as you are quickly transported into fishing Utopia.
